Veteran Outreach Coordinator

Hampton, VA - Full Time

We are seeking a Veteran Outreach Coordinator who loves connecting with people and helping others to work at Master Center for Addiction Medicine! We are a private, outpatient addiction medicine treatment center headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia. We have additional offices in Chesterfield, Hampton, Gloucester, Norfolk, and the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck and we are expanding to provide services to other communities in need, particularly rural communities, where addiction treatment may be difficult to access. Our approach to addiction is comprehensive, evidence-based and individualized, drawing on every tool that has been proven effective: medical treatment, education, psychiatry, professional counseling, testing/monitoring and peer support services. The Veteran Outreach Coordinator is responsible for creating relationships and collaborating with the Department of Veterans Services including programs like Benefit Services, Virginia Veteran and Family Support, Virginia Values Veterans and other Veteran community resources in the region. This position will focus on educating the veteran community about addiction and addiction treatment, both internally and externally to Master Center. Regular travel and onsite work are required for this position.

The job requires keen attention to detail and the ability to multitask combined with patience, empathy, and respect for others. This is a position that will involve a significant amount of time in-person and remotely with referral partners and patients, and it requires the ability to communicate effectively in-person, over Zoom calls and over the phone with patients, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with other team members regarding patient care, workflows, and operational aspects of the job.

DESCRIPTION: The Veterans Outreach Coordinator works collaboratively with the Business Development Team at Master Center for Addiction Medicine. The Veterans Outreach Coordinator is responsible for creating relationships and collaborating with the Department of Veterans Services including programs such as Benefit Services, Virginia Veteran and Family Support, Virginia Values Veterans, and other Veteran community resources in the State of Virginia. Regular travel and onsite work at various Master Center locations across the State of Virginia are required for this position.

Outreach Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establishes and maintains referral relationships with the Department of Veterans Services including programs such as Benefit Services, Virginia Veteran and Family Support, Virginia Values Veterans, and other veteran community resources in the region. 
  • Gather data and develop health education initiatives aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, wellness, in addition to developing programs, materials, and events to teach individuals and communities about prevention, managing existing conditions, and conditions affecting well-being.
  • Schedules presentations to educate about addiction, addiction treatment options, suicide prevention, and other pertinent topics related to mental wellness.  
  • Coordinates and participates in events under the direction the Chief Clinical Officer, and Business Development Team.  
  • Serves as primary contact for veteran referrals and coordinates with team members for insurance verification and intake appointments.    
  • Documents referral partner outreach in HubSpot and coordinates with the Business Development Team on mail chimp campaigns and other outreach efforts.  
  • Recommends marketing events or initiatives to target veterans and families in the State of Virginia.  
  • Assists the Chief Clinical Officer in the creation of and execution of weekly, monthly and/or quarterly marketing events and collaborations.    
  • Educates and informs referral resources on new programs.  
  • Establishes an effective referral pathway for referral partners under the direction of the Business Development Team and Chief Clinical Officer. 
  • Documents and tracks phone calls, test messages and emails in HubSpot daily.  
  • Submits weekly plan and meets weekly with the Chief Clinical Officer.
  • Hosts weekly group therapy session specific to members of the SMVF community.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Strong problem-solving skills, high attention to detail and an aptitude for learning.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Must provide exceptional customer service and professional communications to patients, colleagues, community partners, and professional staff.
  • Ability to communicate detailed and relevant data.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties and work within a structured environment.
  • Work history in Behavioral Health highly preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect for the Veteran Community.

 EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma required. Two-year degree and clinical experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years management or business development experience.
  • Experience working with veterans or serving veterans preferred.
  •  Ability to interpret data and utilize computer/technology.

This position is Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM. Some weekend and evening hours may be required for business development tasks. Regular travel is required for this position. Travel is reimbursed in accordance with our Expense Reimbursement Policy.
Location: Hampton, Virginia, 23666-- this position will cover the entire Hampton Roads area and will require regular meetings with and travel to partners within the region. While regular travel is a requirement, this is a hybrid position, and the candidate should be comfortable working remotely and working from home on administrative tasks.
